Thanks to all of you who attended our parent kickoff meeting last week.  It has been great to meet so many of you at the pool, and I'm really excited for this swim season.

Diving Practice

Diving practice starts this Saturday at 8:30am at the Dougherty Valley High School Aquatic Center ( 10550 Albion Road. San Ramon ).  Please sign and return the waiver form to participate.  Diving is an important skill, so we're putting extra attention on it this year!

Parent Jobs Signup, May 14th

Parent job signup will be Wednesday, May 14th at 6pm in the Club Sport lobby.  We are still working out the final numbers, but we expect each family will be required to signup for 5 meet jobs and 1 job at the VSA Championship meet at the end of the year.  All jobs are open on a first come/first serve basis except for Stroke and Turn officials and VSA Championship computer input.  We are still looking for volunteers for both.  For stroke and turn, please email Jonathan Fritz (jonathan.fritz@gmail.com).  For VSA Computer, please contact Lori McPherson (mommymcpherson@yahoo.com).  Both positions require specialized training in May.

Parent Jobs Happy Hour!

With the Marlins, any milestone is a reason to celebrate!  After you signup for parent jobs, feel free to join me at the Club Sport cafe bar for our initial parent social activity.  It will be a great opportunity to meet and ask any questions or voice ideas.  We may even solicit your help for one of our committees!  No freebies to offer, but I've been known to buy volunteers a beer.  It's worth coming by to find out :)

Marlins Bulletin Board at the Pool

Many of you have asked about our bulletin board.  The board has not been replaced after the recent remodel, so we've put up a temporary board in the SW corner of the pool.  It's small, but we'll post important announcements and a calendar there until our permanent board is back up.  Please check it often!

Swimmer Folders

Swimmer folders will be coming in the next few weeks.  Folders are used for important stuff: ribbons, treats, and the like.  They will be located in the SW corner of the pool in file folders listed alphabetically.  We'll send out an announcement when they are there.

Marlins Swim Team – Parent Organization

Our parent organization is off to a strong start.  Please see Celia Lee or Terri Hoang for information on social dues.  The date for our first organization event has been set: June 6^th for Camp Marlin.  Check your email for more details in the coming weeks.

June 6 - Camp Marlins

It will be a fun-filled night of food, games, prizes and much more.  It  will be at Club Sport from 6pm to 9pm.  Great opportunity for parents to have a night out, and the kids enjoying themselves with their team & coaches!  Look for flyer and rsvp forms in the swimmer folders, or bulletin board in the next few weeks. 

Locker Room: ATTENTION

There was a report of missing clothes from one of the lockers in the child changing room at the Club.  Please lock up anything you leave in the locker room, most standard locks will fit.  If you don't have a lock, bring all of your belongings out to the pool deck for security.

Improve Every Week

Finally, remember that we are all winners when we improve.  Encourage your swimmers to come to practice, listen to the coaches, and focus each week on incremental improvement.  These small "wins" may be simply finishing practice for the little ones, or working on a particular stroke or technique for the older swimmers.  Stay positive and support each other.  As always, GO MARLINS!
